Welcome to Nice: Start of the New Year for the 2024/25 EUGOV and Med Programmes

We’re delighted to be able to welcome our 27 new students of the MAEIS Applied European Policy and Governance Studies (EUGOV) and MAEIS Mediterranean Studies programmes from 13 different countries!

On Wednesday 2 October, both groups headed out together on a guided tour of Nice to discover more about the new city they will call home for the next three months.

Then on Monday 7 October, the programme began officially in the presence of all CIFE staff members in Nice, including EUGOV Programme Director Susann Heinecke-Kuhn and Mediterranean Programme Director Jean-Claude Vérez. Our Director General Matthias Waechter gave an insight into the history of CIFE during his introductory speech, as we are currently celebrating our 70th anniversary year in 2024.

Classes then began in earnest on Monday afternoon with a course on the Historical Aspects of European Integration with Matthias Waechter. This was followed by a German class with Priscilla Cassell and a Research Colloquium with Susann Heinecke-Kuhn for the EUGOV students, whilst the Med students had a class on History of Migration by Yvan Gastaut.

We look forward to getting to know them more and wish them all the best for the new academic year!

Meet our EUGOV and Med students here!
