Start of the Berlin Term for the Three Joint Master Programmes
Willkommen to Berlin! At the beginning of February, we welcomed our Joint Master students to CIFE in Berlin: 62 students from 23 different countries from all 5 continents studying economic policy, climate diplomacy and cultural governance. Having spent their first term in Rome with our partner Luiss School of Government, they will now study at CIFE, first in Berlin and then in Nice.
The welcome ceremony started with keynote speeches by Programme Director Arnaud Leconte on EU Economic Integration in the New Global Map and CIFE Director General Matthias Waechter on Germany in the EU before the Election on 23 February 2025.
Anselm Küsters, Head of Digitalisation and New Technology at Centrum für Europäische Politik (Centre for European Policy), delivered a keynote speech about AI and the Future of the Labour Market.
Heike Freimuth, Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Office in Germany, spoke about the EIB's role in Germany between War and Peace.
The day concluded with an engaging simulation game on the IPCC Scientific Reports regarding climate change: nine experienced facilitators from Climate Fresk Deutschland introduced the Joint Master students to the causes and consequences of climate change. The students worked in small groups to elaborate a climate fresk: using 42 cards with major facts and details of the scientific IPCC report, each group assembled its own fresk showing the interconnectedness of the different factors.
A heartfelt thank you to our guest speakers and to Julius Wiebe, GEGPA alumnus, who organised the climate fresk for the second time!
We wish our Joint Master students a very good start in Berlin, full of insights and discoveries - we're pleased to have you with us!
