Visit to the French Embassy in Berlin - April 2023

On Friday 14 April 2023, the students of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies - Applied European Policy and Governance Studies met with H.E. the Ambassador of France to Germany, Mr François Delattre, and Minister-Councellor Mr Emmanuel Cohet at the French Embassy in Berlin.

The students were welcomed by Mr Cohet, who presented the deep cooperation between France and Germany for the past 60 years since the Elysée Treaty. He also explained the organisational differences and complexities between a federal state (Germany) and a centralised state (France) and some of the latest Franco-German initiatives, including in the fields of military defence, industry, economy and research. He also delved into the actions taken in the field of culture and education, such as steps taken to encourage language learning and the Generation Europe programme.

There was an informative exchange with advisors on the subject of the Franco-German tandem, as well as a speech given by Honorary President of CIFE, Jean-Antoine Giansily, and the opportunity to visit the embassy and the Ambassador's residence. The visit concluded with an informal discussion with H.E. the Ambassador, Mr François Delattre.
