Start of the New Academic Year in Rome: Joint Masters 2024/25
On Monday 14 October 2024, the students of our three Joint Master programmes, the Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs (GEGPA), the Joint Master in EU Trade and Climate Diplomacy (EUDIPLO) and the brand new Joint Master in European Cultural Governance (EUCULTURE), began the new academic year with our partner university Luiss School of Government in Rome.
In addition to the opening classes, the EUCULTURE students took part in a cultural visit to the Gardens of Ninfa and the Castle of Sermoneta. This unique setting served as an ideal environment for hands-on exploration of cultural heritage management, where students engaged with the challenges and opportunities of managing historical assets.
All three programmes will spend the first trimester in Rome with Luiss School of Government, before heading to Berlin in February and Nice in April with CIFE. The GEGPA students will take part in a study trip to Frankfurt and Bonn in March 2025, the EUDIPLO students will go to Brussels in March 2025 and the EUCULTURE group will head to Paris in April 2025.
The GEGPA Master is focused on how to assess, manage and enhance private and public institutions’ governance with a wide range of economic and digital intelligence tools. In Rome, courses will give an introduction to Global Governance, focusing on the context and challenges of economic governance and policy in the 21st century. Then in Berlin, teaching will concentrate on new forms of transnational and interregional governance as a way forward towards Sustainable Development in the context of major climate and demographic changes. Finally, in Nice, a special focus will be laid on Policy Intelligence, inciting participants to investigate how far the digital society enables transforming economic data into policy knowledge.
Meanwhile, the EUDIPLO Master focuses on how to act, reflect and participate in strategic trade and climate policy negotiations between Europe and other geopolitical powers, with a wide range of economic and digital intelligence tools. The programme starts in Rome, where courses will give an introduction to the EU Governance, focusing on the context and challenges of European Foreign Action and policy in the 21st century. In Berlin, teaching will concentrate on EU Climate Diplomacy and the EU's ambition to be climate leaders in the context of the EU Green Deal. Courses conclude in Nice, where a special focus will be laid on EU Trade & Investment Diplomacy.
Finally, the EUCULTURE Master looks at how how the intrinsic relationship of Cultural Heritage, Sustainable Development and the Digital Transition can contribute to a constructive transformation of 21st century society. The programme starts in Rome, where courses will give an introduction to Governance of Cultural Policies, focusing on EU policies and cultural management, specifically in the Mediterranean region. In Berlin, teaching will concentrate on Central and Eastern European Culture and Sustainable Development, learning how cultural institutions and artists contribute to the ecological transition. Courses conclude in Nice, where a special focus will be laid on Western European Culture and the Digital Transition.
